Sig Sauer P238

The Sig Sauer P238 is a compact semi-automatic pistol made by the German company Sig Sauer Firearms. The weapon was first introduced in 2008, and has since been adopted by law enforcement agencies around the globe. The P238’s design is based on the earlier Sig Sauer P938, which was also a compact semi-automatic pistol.

The Sig Sauer P238 pistols are chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge. This allows them to hold seven rounds in their magazine and one round in their chamber. The magazine release button is located on the left side of the frame; it can be pressed with the thumb to release a magazine from the weapon during reloading or clearing malfunctions.

The slide lock lever is located on top of the slide, just behind its ejection port; this lever locks back when all rounds have been fired from an empty magazine and releases when a fresh magazine is inserted into place. The trigger guard contains a small safety lever that prevents accidental discharge if it is accidentally pulled while holstered or carried concealed under clothing without adequate retention straps or other safety devices in place (such as those provided by holster manufacturers).
